LOOKING FOR A ROAD MAP TO ADDRESS THE RIGHT TO HEALTH CARE: COMPARATIVE FRAMES

Summer School September 24-28, 2018

Santander- Spain

This Jean Monnet Summer School is an intensive training seminar to provide a comparative overview of different current challenges in the field of Health Law and Policy. The course is organised by the Jean Monnet Network in Health Law and Policy, an academic project that provides a clear focal point for the comparative study of health policy across the European Union and North America, for the diffusion of high-quality information on health policy, and for the training of new scholars and policy analysts in health policy. The Jean Monnet Network in Health Law and Policy is funded by the European Union through its Erasmus+ Jean Monnet program. The seminar adopts a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach and is focused on both theoretical and practical aspects exploring current legal and policy issues which impact on patients´ rights and responsibilities of health providers and policy makers. At the same time, the course will allow to contrast approaches in different regional and international contexts, drawing out best practices and lessons to be learned and creating a critical mass of experts in the field of health policies and regulations. Leading scholars from across Europe and the Americas will be brought together to share their expertise in this area. The workshop is addressed to participants from different backgrounds such as PhD candidates, healthcare practitioners and researchers, policy makers, health lawyers, and undergraduate students. Since the seminar offers an interactive approach, only a maximum number of 20 participants will be accepted. Reading materials will be delivered and a certificate will be awarded to participants. Successful participants in the course will be included in a list of collaborators of the Jean Monnet Network to allow them to be involved in national and international activities. A book will be published based on seminar lectures and a selection of submitted papers of participants. The Jean Monnet Summer School will be held in English at Campus Las Llamas: Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo. Avda.
